Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing is a 1989 film classic showing an incredibly apt representation of the racial division and violent discourse within society surrounding the topic of minority and race. The film follows a neighborhood in Brooklyn, with the characters surviving a very hot day.

The main character, Mookie, is the delivery boy of an Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. The plot follows his routine on a scorching hot day. Fighting for survival, on the all-to-familiar racial separations, clashes, and discourse that occurs between the characters.
Do The Right Thing is a forever film classic, of which the moral, is neglected too often. And too often do they find this moral, dusty, in a bedside draw. To be propped up on display, only to be eventually moved back into the draw, forgotten about, until the next victim of race crime appears. This film is evidence of our desperate need for equality, especially after the happenings of the year 2020 that were frighteningly similar to those of the film. I’ve linked here an article to the wrongful death of George Floyd and here is a link to a site that can help you understand how to go forth and help support the Black Lives Matter Movement against disgraceful acts like this.
